2023 Call for Submissions: The Literary Laddership for Emerging African Authors

Following the success of the 2022 inaugural edition, The Literary Laddership for Emerging African Authors is thrilled to announce that we're now accepting submissions for the 2023 edition.

Last year, two selected fellows, Ola and Davina, received $500 each in grants to support their writing and research activities, participated in a digital residency (including a series of interactive and mentoring sessions with established African writers and industry professionals) and a community of practice for discussing further subjects related to the craft and professional considerations of being an author. You can read their testimonials.

If you're an emerging African author who is looking to take your writing to the next level—especially continental writers from underrepresented communities—we strongly encourage you to submit your work for consideration. See eligibility and application details below.

The application period opens April 17, 2023 and closes April 30, 2023 @ 11:59PM WAT.

We can't wait to read your submissions and help you take your writing to the next level. Good luck!
