I've attended some writing workshops and programmes in the years gone by. Once in a while, I do stuff that gets recognized. I also get lucky and win stuff sometimes. You can catch the gist on them all here:
— Alumnus, the 2017 Milford SF Writers Workshop, UK (Past attendees: George R.R. Martin, Neil Gaiman). Attended as a recipient of the 8Squared Bursary.
— Longlist, the 2017 Nommo Awards for African Speculative Fiction. "Of Tarts And New Beginnings" published in Omenana, Issue #8.
— Recipient, The Akighir and Akinbukola Writers Fund, Q4 2016.
— Alumnus, Gotham Writers Workshop, NYC | Instructor: Renee Dodd
Fiction I, 10-week course: 3 CEUs (July - September, 2016).
— Winner, TNC's The Writer Contest, Season IV, 2016 | Judges: Tendai Huchu, Lauri Kubuitsile, Titilayo Oyinsan
Succeeding edition of the four-week Pan-African contest. One piece, three evictions per week. Threw in my weight and finally came out on the better end with N200,000.
— Graduate, Ake Festival Fiction Writing Workshop, Abeokuta, 2015 | Instructors: Nnedi Okorafor, Taiye Selasi, Helon Habila
One-day intensive series of masterclasses taught by Nnedi Okorafor, Taiye Selasi and Helon Habila in November 2015. Have a colourful sheet of paper that says it was all worth it.
— Runner-up, TNC's The Writer Contest, Season III, 2014. | Judges: Eghosa Imasuen, Myne Whitman, Seun Salami.
Four-week Pan-African battle with 12 outstanding writer contestants, me inclusive. One piece and three evictions per week. Almost made it to the top, though $800 was a good settle.
— Longlist, Etisalat Prize for Flash Fiction, 2013 | Judges: Pumla Gqola, Billy Kahora, Sarah Ladipo Manyika, Zakes Mda
Longlisted for the Etisalat Inaugural Prize for Flash Fiction with an early flash story, "Invisible Scars."
